California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency in the state due to the earthquake that occurred earlier.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 7 earthquake in the state of California. No casualties or injuries were reported.
‘I just approved a state of emergency to allow more resources to go where needed for emergency response to the earthquake,’ Newsom wrote on his social media account X.
He added that state authorities are working to keep Californians safe and informed.
Earlier it was reported that a tsunami warning was announced after a powerful earthquake off the coast of California. Later, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) cancelled the tsunami threat.
