A South Korean resident lost 12 family members and five other friends in the recent plane crash in Muang. The man revealed this in an interview with Yonhap News Agency.

According to the man, whose name was not disclosed, he was on a tourist trip in Thailand with his children, relatives and friends but had to return to India instead of South Korea for work reasons.

‘I am the only survivor from a large family,’ he revealed.

Reportedly, when the man learnt of the incident, he immediately cut short his trip and bought a ticket from India to South Korea to take a DNA test and help find his relatives.

‘I can’t forget the voice of the six-year-old girl who told me they were going to celebrate her grandfather’s birthday,’ he confessed, referring to his daughter who tragically died in the crash.

At around 9:07 a.m. (3:07 a.m. Moscow time) on Sunday, a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 flying 7C 2216 from Bangkok to Muang flew past the runway and crashed into a fence while landing at the airport. A fire started. There were 181 people on board, including six crew members. There were no Russians among them – the passengers of the plane were 173 citizens of South Korea and two Thai citizens. According to the latest data, 179 people died.

As specified in Jeju Air, the age of the aircraft was 15 years, earlier accidents with it did not happen. As the presumptive causes of the crash are considered both weather conditions and collision with birds. Eyewitnesses said they noticed flashes on the plane’s wing before it landed.
