Washington, D.C. has declared a state of emergency due to an impending snowstorm
A state of emergency has been declared in Washington, D.C. on Sunday due to an impending snowstorm, Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office said in a released statement.
“Mayor Muriel Bowser has declared a snow emergency in Washington, D.C.,” the statement said.
The emergency regime in the American capital has been established since Sunday and will remain in effect until the end of January 7. All car owners should remove their cars as soon as possible, if they are parked along the routes of emergency services, in order to avoid their forced evacuation.
Earlier, CNN reported that a powerful winter storm is threatening approximately 62 million residents in the central and eastern United States and will bring significant snowfall, dangerous ice, rain and severe thunderstorms.
These weather conditions are expected to affect at least a dozen states, with power outages in vast areas possible. Warm states may experience severe thunderstorms.
