The US Supreme Court refused to overturn the sentencing of US President-elect Donald Trump in a New York court in the case of payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels, ABC reports.

In particular, Trump’s claim was denied by Chief Justice John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett. The court noted that the alleged irregularities in the consideration of evidence in the trial against the politician can be considered in the normal course of appeal.

On Jan. 8, Trump filed an emergency petition with the Supreme Court, he was trying to prevent his conviction in the case. The hearing in the case of financial document forgery in the Daniels deal will be held on January 10.

Trump was accused of forging documents in connection with payments to two women, including ex-porn actress Daniels, for keeping quiet about their alleged affair. According to the investigation, the politician dated the girl in 2006, and ten years later, during his first presidential campaign, instructed his lawyer Michael Cohen to sign a nondisclosure agreement with the woman. In return, Daniels received $130,000 from the lawyer.

In February 2017, after taking office as President of the United States, Trump met with Cohen in the Oval Office and promised him to return the money. In total, he transferred to the lawyer $ 420 thousand (compensation for Daniels’ payment for the agreement, interest and bonus), breaking them into 11 checks, the prosecution claims; the transactions were disguised as payment by the Trump Organization for legal services. This the investigation sees as fraudulent financial records to influence the outcome of the election.

In May, a jury found Trump guilty on all 34 counts. However, the verdict was postponed several times.
