Fire in the Los Angeles County neighborhood of Pacific Palisades destroyed about 5.3 thousand structures. This was reported by The New York Times on January 9.

“According to firefighters who conducted an aerial reconnaissance of the region, the fire appears to have destroyed more than 5,300 structures,” the newspaper informed.

It is specified that such amount of destruction makes it the third most destructive fire in terms of the number of destroyed structures in the history of California after the 2018 Camp Fire (more than 18,000 structures) and the 2017 Tubbs Fire (5,600 structures).

Multiple wildfires in Los Angeles were reported the day before. Extinguishing continues, strong winds fuel the fire, rescue crews lack water. In connection with the fires, the current U.S. President Joe Biden declared a major disaster regime in the state of California.
