US TV channel CNN is preparing to cut “hundreds” of employees and refocus its course on the digital space, CNBC reported, citing knowledgeable sources.
“CNN plans to lay off hundreds of employees on Thursday as the company refocuses its business on a global digital audience,” the material said.
According to the channel, CNN structures around the world employ about 3,500 people.
According to sources, the cuts will help CNN to reduce production costs and consolidate teams of employees. At the same time, the cuts will not affect the most famous figures of the channel, the sources said.
It is also noted that the channel will move the shooting of some of its shows from New York and Washington to Atlanta in the south of the United States, where their production will be cheaper.
At the same time, it is indicated that NBC will also cut some employees, but the number of those laid off will be insignificant and will be “noticeably less than 50”.
