Trump said that Russian Federation treated the United States well by returning American Fogel

Moscow treated Washington very well by returning American Mark Fogel, convicted in Russia for drug smuggling and possession, US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House.

‘They’ve been very nice. Russia treated us very well,’ he said.

Trump also expressed hope that the event would be the beginning of a relationship to end the conflict in Ukraine.

The US president’s special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Whitkoff, visited Russia to negotiate the return of a compatriot.

Vogel, along with his wife, was detained at Sheremetyevo airport in August 2021. Marijuana and hashish oil were found in his luggage. During searches, investigators found out that the wife of the American, released home, was able to get rid of the evidence in the flat before the arrival of law enforcers.

As specified in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, until May 2021 Fogel and his wife had diplomatic status. According to one version, the figure could use it to organise a channel for the supply of drugs to Russia, which he distributed among the students of the Anglo-American school, where he worked as a teacher.

The former employee of the US Embassy was accused of smuggling and possession of narcotic drugs on a particularly large scale. Vogel fully admitted guilt. The Khimki court near Moscow sentenced him to 14 years in a strict regime colony.
