The United States is discussing with Russia and Germany the purchase of Nord Streams and other energy infrastructure in order to resume Russian energy supplies to Europe after the end of the Ukrainian conflict. This is reported by the German publication Correctiv, which conducted its own investigation.
According to its edition, the discussion has been going on for several months. In addition to Nord Streams, the Americans are interested in Rosneft’s subsidiary in Germany, which owns a 54% stake in the Schwedt refinery, which is supplied with oil through the Druzhba pipeline, and smaller stakes in the southern German refineries Bayernoil and Miro.
Of the three Nord Streams strings, only one survived after being blown up in the fall of 2022. WSJ reported in November that the American investor and Donald Trump supporter Stephen Lynch tried to participate in the project “Nord Stream – 2”, writes the publication “Country”. Documents from the bankruptcy case of Nord Stream 2 AG in Switzerland also point to negotiations. Earlier this year, the company claimed in court that it was “in intensive contact with financial investors”.
Recently, the German newspaper “Bild” reported that secret negotiations on the resumption of Nord Stream 2 have been going on in Switzerland for several weeks.
