
NYP: The head of the Spanish branch of Siemens was killed when a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River
The head of the Spanish branch of the German concern Siemens Agustin Escobar died as a result of a helicopter crash into the Hudson River near New York with his family, the New York Post reports, citing sources in law enforcement agencies.
Earlier, New York Mayor Eric Adams confirmed the death of six people when the helicopter fell into the Hudson. He said that, according to preliminary information, on board the helicopter was a family from Spain.
“The head of the Spanish offshoot of technology company Siemens and his family have been identified as victims of the ill-fated helicopter crash into the Hudson…. As a result of the crash … the president and CEO of Siemens in Spain, Agustin Escobar, his wife and their three children were killed,” the newspaper said in a story.
According to New York Post sources, the body of the helicopter pilot has not yet been identified.
The helicopter crashed into the Hudson River near Jersey City, located on the opposite shore from Manhattan. The incident occurred at about 3:17 p.m. Thursday.
