Bloomberg: the U.S. began a caviar boom because of cheap supplies from China
In the United States noted a big increase in the popularity of dishes with caviar, this is due to the supply of cheap product from China, writes Bloomberg.
“There is a caviar boom, and every time someone asks me why, I tell them the same thing: the influx of mass-produced Chinese caviar at very low prices,” Edward Panchernikov, director of Caviar Russe caviar restaurant, told the agency.
The article also notes that despite the reduction in the price of caviar, restaurant visitors continue to consider this product elite, and therefore treat caviar accordingly.
Restaurant owners also shared with the publication the opinion that dishes with caviar create a good and respectable image of the institution, attract people and increase the average check.
However, the author of the article believes that the caviar boom will soon end due to the trade war with China and the introduction of new tariffs.
