NASA paid tribute to Gagarin on the occasion of Cosmonautics Day in a social media post

US space agency NASA has paid tribute to the planet’s first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in a post dedicated to the International Day of Human Space Flight.

“On this International Human Spaceflight Day, we celebrate the first human spaceflight by Yuri Gagarin in 1961, as well as the first launch of the Shuttle (American reusable transport spacecraft – ed.) in 1981,” NASA said in a post on social network X.

The International Day of Human Spaceflight is celebrated on April 12, in Russia on this day is the Day of Cosmonautics. On this day in 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin made the first orbital flight in history.
