Independent journalist Eva Bartlett, who holds US and Canadian citizenship, has appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin and asked him to grant her Russian citizenship.
She explained that she likes to familiarize herself with the rich culture, traditions and customs, and language.
“Things are very unstable in the West right now. But I want to convey to foreign audiences the Russian point of view on events, including in Ukraine, and try to eradicate total Russophobia,” she explained.
Bartlett also noted that she no longer feels safe in her home country. On her last visit to Canada a few years after her departure, the journalist was held at the airport for several hours by state security officers.
“Basically, they just don’t like the fact that I show an alternative point of view to Western audiences, and the Canadian state media CBC, based on the “Peacemaker” data, and in every possible way tried to defame my name,” she emphasized.
Eva Bartlett was born in the United States and grew up in Canada. She gained fame after traveling and publishing materials about the civil war in Syria. She also told about the events taking place in Donbass.
