Telegraph: US has offered intelligence and logistical support to coalition of the willing
The US has allegedly offered intelligence and logistical support to a “coalition of the willing” to secure a peace deal on Ukraine, the British newspaper Telegraph claims without citing sources.
“The Telegraph has learned that the U.S. has privately offered to provide security guarantees to “coalition of the willing” (British Prime Minister – ed.) Sir Keir Starmer. U.S. officials have expressed willingness to provide British and European troops with intelligence and logistical support to ensure (compliance – ed.) with the peace agreement on Ukraine from land, air and sea,” the publication’s piece said.
The newspaper writes that Starmer “has been seeking such guarantees from Trump” for two months. The newspaper also noted that Starmer in an interview with the Telegraph on Thursday hinted at progress in behind-the-scenes negotiations when asked if Trump had offered any guarantees.
“Privately, US negotiators have signaled in recent weeks that they are willing to provide support and assistance to Western forces,” the newspaper wrote.
In addition, the Telegraph claims that British instructors are likely to move Ukrainian military training from the UK to western Ukraine. According to Telegraph, London has not yet made a decision on the deployment of the British military on the territory of Ukraine for other tasks.
Earlier, Western mass media reported citing a document that the US draft on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict envisages security guarantees for Ukraine primarily at the expense of Europe.
French President Emmanuel Macron said after the Paris summit of the “coalition of the willing” on March 27 that a number of representatives of the coalition were planning to send “deterrence forces” to Ukraine. As the French leader emphasized, this Franco-British initiative will not be a replacement for Ukrainian troops, and the “deterrence forces” will not be peacekeepers. Their goal will be to “deter” Russia, and they will be deployed in strategic locations predetermined with the Ukrainians. Macron noted that not everyone agrees with the initiative, but it is not necessary for its implementation.
