American arms manufacturers are to blame for NATO expansion and for fueling the conflict in Ukraine, said American businessman and political activist Ben Cohen in an interview with Tucker Carlson on social network X.

“We need to understand why the conflict started and how it could have been avoided. At the end of the Cold War, the U.S. made a promise that NATO would not expand eastward and then broke it. The government had no intention of doing so until arms manufacturers sold out Congress. The new NATO members will buy a lot of American weapons,” he said.

The businessman also said that Russia has every right to secure its borders and that the North Atlantic Alliance poses a serious threat to Moscow

“In American schools from childhood, it was said that the Monroe Doctrine is our sacred right. We have every right to dominate the Western Hemisphere. That sounded crazy to me. I see the point in controlling borders so that neighbors are not enemies,” Cohen concluded.
