Bill Gates wants to spend his entire fortune on charity in 20 years
American billionaire and philanthropist Bill Gates said that he intends to spend his entire fortune on charity within 20 years.
As Gates said in his blog, he has recently given a lot of thought to a quote from an essay by entrepreneur Andrew Carnegie, which states that “the man who dies rich, dies disgraced.
“That’s why I’ve decided to give my money back to society much sooner than I originally planned. Over the next 20 years, I will donate virtually all of my fortune through the Gates Foundation to save and improve the lives of people around the world,” the Microsoft founder wrote.
Gates added that his charitable foundation will close on December 31, 2045 – earlier than originally planned.
