Governor Newsom calls on Americans to oppose Trump’s policies

Amid protests in Los Angeles, California Governor Gavin Newsom made a public statement accusing Donald Trump of abusing his power and calling on Americans to oppose the US president.

“What Donald Trump wants most is for you to be loyal, to remain silent, to become accomplices at this moment. Don’t give in to him,” he said.

According to him, California may be the first in Trump’s path, but it will clearly not end there.

“Other states are next. Democracy is next. Democracy is under attack before our very eyes. The moment we feared has arrived,” he added.

Yesterday, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that he had filed a lawsuit to “immediately” stop the “militarization of Los Angeles” by the administration of US President Donald Trump. He took this step after the White House ordered the deployment of nearly 5,000 military personnel, including the National Guard and Marines, to the city.
