NBC: Idaho fire was set on purpose to catch rescuers off guard

The fire in the US state of Idaho, where a shooting occurred, was set on purpose to catch the rescuers who arrived off guard, NBC reports, citing local officials.

ABC previously reported that two firefighters were killed in Idaho as a result of an attack by a criminal while extinguishing a forest fire.

“They (officials – ed.) say that the firefighters arrived at a deliberately set fire, after which they started shooting at them, adding that the word “ambush” accurately describes what happened to the first people to arrive at the scene,” the TV channel points out.

An official from the central government also told the TV channel that preliminary assessments indicate that the arson was committed to create a trap for the firefighters.
