The United States of America has signed a tariff deal with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, President Donald Trump announced on his social network Truth Social.

Vietnam will pay the American side a 20 percent duty on all goods exported to the US, and a 40 percent duty on those that pass through Vietnam in transit.

In turn, the US will sell goods to Vietnam with a zero tariff, Trump said. The president noted that he was pleased to negotiate with Vietnam.

On April 2, Trump announced the introduction of “mirror” duties for more than 200 countries from 10 to 50%. For Vietnam, they were 46%.

Already on April 4, Vietnam said that, for its part, it was ready to cancel all tariffs on American goods if it reached a deal with the US, Trump said.

The introduction of “mirror” duties was paused until July 9 for negotiations on trade deals. During this time, the US has concluded agreements with China and Great Britain. Negotiations with a number of other countries are ongoing.
