“Increasing the deficit from the crazy $2 trillion achieved under (former US President Joe) Biden to $2.5 trillion. This will lead the country to bankruptcy,” Musk said.

Musk is the richest man in the world (Forbes estimates his fortune at $405.2 billion) and one of the main sponsors of the current US President Donald Trump’s campaign. The businessman and the politician became close during the election race; Musk briefly worked in the US administration as the curator of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The goal of the department is to reduce government spending and restructure federal agencies.
Musk promised that under his leadership, DOGE would be able to reduce US budget expenditures by $2 trillion. He subsequently cut the target figure in half, but in 130 days of work, the department was able to save the treasury only 17.5% of the declared amount – $175 billion.

The document provides for the extension of tax breaks and other tax incentives, as well as an increase in the US debt ceiling by $5 trillion.
Musk predicted “enormous strategic harm” to the United States because of the bill. In his opinion, the document will destroy millions of jobs in America and put the country “on the path of debt slavery.” It “gives handouts to the industries of the past, while causing serious damage to the industries of the future,” the businessman believes.
