Trump promised to come to Chicago if the local authorities do not deal with crime.

US President Donald Trump has promised in his Truth Social network to come to Chicago with federal control measures if local authorities do not bring order to crime.

“Six people were killed, 24 were shot in Chicago last weekend, and the weak and pathetic governor of Illinois said he didn’t need help with crime prevention. He’s a nutcase. He better fix the situation quickly, or we will come,” Trump wrote.

Trump has previously allowed for measures similar to the deployment of the National Guard in Washington, in other major cities. This was opposed, in particular, by the mayor of Chicago, the largest city in Illinois, Brandon Johnson, who demanded that subordinates resist “by any means” possible attempts by the federal authorities to take control of the city. The document signed by the mayor is most likely symbolic, as indicated by the vagueness of the wording used and the lack of sufficient authority.
