The United States has suspended the issuance of a wide range of visas to Palestinians, the New York Times reported, citing American officials.

“The administration (of US President Donald) Trump has decided to broadly suspend the approval of almost all visitor visas for holders of Palestinian passports,” the newspaper writes.

It is noted that the State Department has informed all US embassies and consulates about the relevant measures. The solution covers visas for medical treatment, university studies, visiting friends and relatives, and traveling for business purposes.

The publication notes that it is unclear what exactly caused this decision.

The measures do not apply to those Palestinians who have already received American visas.
