Trump is confident that the raid on the Hyundai plant will not complicate US relations with South Korea.
US President Donald Trump said that the raid on the Hyundai battery plant in Georgia would not complicate the United States’ relations with South Korea.
“No, we have excellent relations with South Korea. We have really good relations,” Trump told reporters, answering a question about whether the recent raid would create tension in relations between the two countries.
Earlier, the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia said that at least 475 people were detained during a raid on the Hyundai battery plant in the state. As the Yonhap news agency noted, citing sources in diplomatic circles, at least 300 of the detainees are South Korean citizens.
The head of the South Korean presidential administration later announced that Seoul had agreed with Washington on the return of the detained South Korean citizens to their homeland.
