US President Donald Trump said that he had received many verbal guarantees from participants in the Middle East peace process regarding the cease-fire in Gaza, and believes that they will be respected.
“We have a lot of verbal guarantees, and I don’t think they will want to disappoint me. I have a lot of verbal guarantees that are not fixed on paper, but I have received them and I am sure that they will be followed very strictly,” Trump told reporters, answering the question of what guarantees he was able to provide to both Israel and Arab countries.
Earlier, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the implementation of the first phase of the peace plan to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip. In the first phase, Hamas will release the Israeli hostages, and Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line inside the strip and release hundreds of Palestinians from Israeli prisons, including many who have been convicted of terrorism for life.
