An armed conflict between Israel and Iran may become inevitable, The New York Times newspaper reports, citing officials and analysts.

The 2015 agreement, designed to limit Iran’s nuclear program, expired last month, harsh sanctions were imposed on Iran, and negotiations on its nuclear program have reached an impasse, the newspaper writes.

Tehran says its stockpile of highly enriched uranium has been destroyed, and Israeli officials believe it has been moved to a safe location.

According to the newspaper, many in the Persian Gulf countries consider the possibility of a new Israeli attack on Iran as almost inevitable, given the opinion of the Israeli authorities that Iran’s nuclear program poses a serious threat.

Ali Vaez, the head of the Iran project at the International Crisis Group, said that according to Iranian officials, the country’s missile factories are operating around the clock. According to him, “they hope to launch 2,000 rockets simultaneously to break through Israeli defenses, not 500 in 12 days,” as in June.
