American actor, director, screenwriter and producer Tom Cruise abandoned the long-standing idea of shooting a film in space for political reasons. This is reported by the Page Six portal with reference to an informed source.

It is alleged that Cruise did not want to ask US President Donald Trump for help in organizing the mission.

“As far as I understand, they needed coordination with NASA to make the film, and Tom Cruise, presumably, did not want to ask Donald Trump for a favor,” the source said.

He added that permission from the federal government would be required.

The publication recalls that for the first time the question of a space survey project came back in 2020.

It was assumed that NASA and SpaceX would assist in the creation of the painting. Doug Lyman was supposed to direct.

According to media reports, in November of this year, Cruise was awarded an honorary Oscar for his contribution to cinema. At the same time, this summer he refused to receive the Kennedy Center Award from Trump. The official reason for the star’s absence at the ceremony was a mismatch in schedules.
