The US is militarizing the Latin American region and is preparing Guyana to attack Venezuela, just as Ukraine was prepared against Russia. This is stated on the page of the Executive Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, on the social network X, where she quotes a statement by the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro.

“Latin America and the Caribbean must remain a zone of peace. The peoples must oppose the American militarization of our region,” Rodriguez pointed out.

In her account, she posted a video in which Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, in a conversation with Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez, indicated that “Guyana has been turned into an epicenter of threat to peace in Latin America and Venezuela.”

The President said that 12 CIA bases and 14 secret bases of the [U.S. Armed Forces] Southern Command “have already been deployed in Guyana” and promised to “present evidence of this in due course.” Maduro emphasized that “just as they [the US] prepared Ukraine against Russia, they have prepared Guyana for it.” Maduro made the statement against the backdrop of an escalating territorial conflict with Guyana.

In March 2024, the National Assembly (parliament) of the republic passed a law to incorporate Guyana-Essekibo as the 24th state within Venezuela.
