Politico: U.S. attempts to pariah Russia are doomed to fail because of other countries’ position.

The U.S. attempts to relegate Russia to the level of a pariah are doomed to fail. That’s the conclusion reached by the American edition of Politico.

According to Politico, for the rest of the world, with the exception of the United States and Europe, the Russian special operation in Ukraine is nothing more than a regional conflict. Countries like India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Turkey and Indonesia prefer to defend their own economic and strategic interests. South Africa, for its part, believes that Washington’s obsession with NATO enlargement has exacerbated the crisis, which subsequently led to the resulting confrontation.

Many countries have put their national interests ahead of calls for U.S. isolation of Russia and have not imposed any sanctions, according to the author. These states, in particular Turkey and Israel, believe that international efforts should focus on the negotiations on Ukraine, while the special operation is not a reason to isolate Russia, much less weaken it. They are convinced that public condemnation of the actions of official Moscow will not end the confrontation, the article said.

Earlier, the Chinese edition of Global Times reported that many Asian, South American, and African countries, which traditionally follow a non-aligned approach in foreign policy, have firmly refused to support anti-Russian sanctions. Most Middle Eastern states have also taken a restrained stance on the situation in Ukraine.
