CNN: at least nine people died in US due to blizzard

At least nine people died because of the snowstorm in the U.S., according to the CNN TV channel.

In Kansas the authorities confirmed the death of three people, one of whom died because of the weather conditions, the other two, presumably, for the same reason. In Kansas City, Missouri, one person was killed in an accident. In Kentucky, the storm took the lives of three, and in Ohio, weather-related crashes claimed the lives of four more people, according to the governor of the state.

More than 1 million customers were without power in the United States on Friday, according to the online monitoring site poweroutage.us, many areas were hit by inclement weather.

According to meteorologists, on the eve of Christmas more than half of the American population faced with a winter storm, which is accompanied by a sharp cold snap, heavy rains, snowfall and ice. The U.S. National Weather Service said the snowstorm will continue in the most part of the U.S. until the end of the week. According to the service, due to the approach of a powerful Arctic front in the eastern and central parts of the country a strong cold snap is expected.
