Two-thirds of Americans surveyed called 2023 a bad year for the U.S.

Two-thirds of Americans considered the outgoing year 2023 bad for the United States, according to a poll conducted by Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research for Fox News.

From the results of the poll it follows that the outgoing year is assessed as bad for the U.S. 66% of respondents. Compared to data from a similar poll conducted at the end of 2022, this figure fell by 1%. Just under a quarter (24%) of respondents described 2023 as a good year, while 2022 was viewed favourably by 25% of respondents in the previous poll.

The survey also shows that 53% of Americans consider the outgoing year bad for themselves and their family. In the previous survey, 52% of respondents gave such a negative assessment of 2022. The number of those who positively assessed the past year in 2023 increased by 2% to 39%. 7% assessed 2023 ambiguously, 1% could not give an answer to the question.

The poll was conducted 10-13 December among 1,007 registered voters. The margin of error is three percentage points.
