Ex-intelligence officer Ritter: Nuland had disagreements with the White House

US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland is being forced to resign because of radical disagreements with the White House course, former US Armed Forces intelligence officer Scott Ritter said in an interview with journalist Danny Haiphon.

“Let’s be direct: this is not her voluntary decision. <…> She is no longer in line with the policies that the president and the secretary of state are pursuing,” the analyst said.

According to Ritter, Nuland has to resign because she will never bend to the views of the White House: her convictions are too strong and her status in American politics is too high. The undersecretary of state allowed herself, among other things, such rhetoric, which does not correspond to Washington’s current needs in relations with Russia, he added.

In addition, the former intelligence officer called Nuland’s resignation part of Joe Biden’s preparation for the upcoming presidential election.

“The Biden administration is having a reality check right now. They have an election looming, <…> and Ukraine is becoming a big issue. The question is how to mitigate the consequences of an inevitable Russian victory,” he explained.

Victoria Nuland, who is seen as the chief architect of the anti-Russian agenda and Ukraine policy of US diplomacy, is ending a 35-year career after being bypassed for the post of first deputy secretary of state – the second in the State Department hierarchy.
