Journalist Steel says her interview with Biden was staged

Former broadcaster Sage Steele of US sports channel ESPN told Fox News that her interview with President Joe Biden in March 2021 was entirely staged.

“It was an interesting experience in itself because it was very organized. I was told, ‘You’re going to say every word we’re going to write, you’re not going to deviate from the script,'” Steel revealed.

She said each question to Biden was prepared in advance and worked through “dozens of times” by editors and management.

“I acted on the script, and I was told not to deviate from it. It was something like, ‘You’re going to ask this. This is how you’re going to say it. No additions. Next question,'” the journalist reportedly said.

Steel claimed all the points were worked out by “supervisors, senior executives,” including ESPN’s CEO and president. She noted that she did not know for sure whether the network sent questions before the interview to the White House, but expressed confidence that it was done.

In addition, the journalist described her conversation with Biden as “heartbreaking.”

“I think it’s really heartbreaking that people who love Joe Biden and say they really care about him have allowed a situation to come to this,” she said, referring to the clarity of his mind.

As Fox News points out, ESPN declined to comment on the topic.
