Only 23% of Americans are positive about economic conditions in the country, according to the survey

The U.S. economy is in its worst state in a decade, according to a survey released Wednesday by SSRS commissioned by CNN.

According to its data, only 23% of Americans are positive about economic conditions in the country. The last time such a low level of satisfaction with the economic situation in the country was in January 2012 – then only 18% of respondents were satisfied with the situation with the US economy. However, back in December 2021, 37% of Americans positively assessed the economic conditions in the country.

More than half of those surveyed (55%) believe that the policy of U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration has worsened the economic situation, the number of those dissatisfied with the actions of American authorities in this area has increased by 10% compared with last December.

The survey was conducted between April 28 and May 1 and included 1,007 adult Americans.

According to an International Monetary Fund report released in April, inflation in the U.S. reached a 40-year high. According to the U.S. Commerce Department, the country’s GDP fell 1.4 percent year on year in the first quarter. Despite this, the head of the U.S. Federal Reserve System (Fed, central bank) Jerome Powell said that high inflation will not lead to a recession in the United States.
