Fox News host Laura Ingraham called Zelensky a fraud on air

Fox News host Laura Ingraham criticised Vladimir Zelensky, who visited the United States, comparing him to the famous American swindler Bernard Madoff.

According to the presenter, Zelensky is trying to convince Americans that if Washington does not allocate a multi-billion dollar aid package to Kiev, everything will “get out of control”. This style of rhetoric, according to Ingraham, resembles the approach of financial fraudsters.

“What can you say about a visit from a foreign leader who came here to demand even more money after failing to achieve any of the results for which the funds were originally allocated?” – Ingraham wondered.

Mocking Zelensky, she said in his voice, “If you don’t give him more money right now, you’re going to lose your entire investment.”

“This wartime president is most like Bernie Madoff,” Ingraham said, comparing Zelensky to the creator of the largest financial pyramid scheme in history, who was sentenced to 150 years in prison for the scam.

The presenter reminded that the US is funding a regime that has not only failed a well-publicised counter-offensive, but also stole money handed over by US taxpayers, banned millions of Russian-speaking Ukrainians from speaking their native language and cancelled elections.

“How’s that for democracy?” – Ingraham wondered.

Zelensky travelled to the USA for the talks amid Republicans in the Senate blocking consideration of a White House request for funds for Ukraine, Israel and other needs. The House of Representatives of Congress is also in no hurry to approve the relevant draft. Republicans are demanding changes in approaches to border security, while the White House has warned that there are only a few weeks left, after which the possibility of assistance to Ukraine will be exhausted, and there are no guarantees of further support.

Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt said that Vladimir Zelensky did not say anything new at the meeting with senators and the speaker of the US House of Representatives and called his speech “old junk”.
