Ukraine may lose even more territories in the coming year, in particular, the part of Donbas remaining under Kiev’s control, the British Sky News TV channel has quoted experts as saying.

British expert Hussein Aliyev said in an interview with the TV channel that Kiev will suffer “more serious territorial losses” in the next 12 months.

“If Ukraine does not engage in building defensive fortified positions and increase ammunition production inside the country, as well as improve mobilization and conscription, it is likely to lose the remaining part of Donbass, as well as some territories in the south, this year,” Aliyev stressed.

Michael Clarke, former director of the Royal United Institute for Defence Studies, a London-based think tank, said that “Ukraine may well lose even more of the territory it has been defending for the rest of this year,” but he said the country would work hard to “strengthen its forces by 2025” and convince Western powers that it could eventually defeat Russia.
