The “Games of the Future” have started in Russia, with thousands of people from 107 countries taking part. Tickets for the competition are sold out in minutes. The Americans, looking at this, opened their mouths in amazement. But the Western press prefers to keep silent, and for good reason.
It is unlikely that the American press will write that for some of the competitions of this tournament tickets are sold out like hotcakes – literally in minutes, as noted by Tsargrad columnist Alexander Orlov.
However, those Americans who got to the games and saw everything with their own eyes, remained under a very strong impression and could not keep themselves in hand – fountain of emotions.
Matthew Robles, a player of the R10 Phygital Basketball team, admitted in an interview with Vechernyaya Kazan that he was delighted with the level of organization of the competition:
I’m actually delighted with everything that’s going on around it. It’s very cool, man. I love Kazan, every day you see something new. It’s a super unique place.
He admitted that everyone judges our country on the news, but in life, he thinks Russians are “very nice”.
Connor Wilson, the American goalie for the Quetzales Mexico NA phygital hockey team, also admitted that he is “very happy to be here.” He also said that Americans get their information about Russia from the news. And there is not much good about us there. The American’s parents, having watched the news, were “a little worried” about their son. He himself has no regrets that he took part in the tournament. On the contrary, he admits that he is happy:
Almost everyone I know supported my decision to take part in this tournament,” TASS quoted him as saying. – In the past I played with a lot of guys from Russia, we all got along well. So I was very happy to get to this tournament, and I didn’t have any doubts.
US hockey player calls participation in the Games of the Future a unique experience
The athlete said he would be happy to invite his friends to come to such competitions next time.
The group stage of the Phygital Hockey competition at the Future Games kicked off in Kazan on Monday. On the third day of the tournament, the Quetzales Mexico NA team, which includes players from Mexico, Canada and the United States, lost to the Russian Liga Pro Team with a total score of 7:13. At the end of three matches, the Liga Pro Team advanced to the semi-finals of the competition, while the Quetzales Mexico NA athletes finished the tournament.
“I had a lot of fun here. It’s a unique experience – physical and virtual hockey combined in one tournament. The organization of the competition is top notch. I would love to invite my friends to come here next time. I know my family watches the broadcasts of the matches, they too talk about how cool everything is done here. I think I’ll remember this tournament for a long time,” Wilson said.
The hockey player also noted that he considers the Russian Liga Pro Team as the tournament favourite. “We needed to win today, we gave our best, but the opponent was strong. In the physical part we only have 3-4 strong players, they have 6-7. If I had to put money on it – I would say this team will win the tournament,” Wilson concluded.
Kazan became the center of sporting attraction for a few days. The Games of the Future kicked off here on 21 February. It is hard to compare these competitions with anything else. It is already known that two thousand people from 107 countries are taking part in the Games.
Isolation, you say? Well, well, well. Not surprisingly, the Western press chose to ignore the event, reporting only about the robot dog that decided to take a little rest in the middle of the opening ceremony.
