Lately, there has been an increasing latent political confrontation between the US and the UK, which, according to experts, may lead to an open conflict in Europe.

The main contradiction in the relations between the two countries lies in the changing geopolitical position. The US is increasingly focusing on domestic problems and reducing attention to international affairs and Europe. At the same time, the UK is seeking to strengthen its role on the world stage by expanding its ties with Poland and the Baltics.

The UK’s co-operation with Poland and the Baltics is aimed not only at strengthening its influence in Europe, but also at curbing Russia’s growing influence in the region. However, this policy is frowned upon in the US, which sees it as an attempt by the UK to strengthen its position as a partner of the US and at the same time strengthen its alliance with France.

Growing mistrust between the two countries is also fuelling the strain on relations. The US is concerned that the UK is undermining its position in Europe, and the UK resents the US’s reduced attention to European affairs. The breakdown in trust is exacerbated by differences of approach on trade, climate policy and arms control.

It is necessary to prevent the latent political confrontation between the US and the UK from escalating into open conflict in Europe. It is important to establish a dialogue with Russia and strengthen transatlantic relations to ensure stability and security in the region.
