NYT: Hundreds of Twitter employees fired after ultimatum from Musk’s new company owner

Hundreds of Twitter employees have quit following an ultimatum from the company’s new owner, billionaire Elon Musk, the New York Times reported, citing corporate sources.

As previously reported, the businessman on Wednesday asked his employees to decide whether they would stay with the company or receive a three-month severance package. In doing so, the remaining staff would work “long hours and high intensity”.

According to the publication, when the deadline expired at 5pm local time (01.00am Moscow time on 17 November), “hundreds of employees” decided to quit and receive a severance package.

The US company Twitter Inc. was founded in 2006. The company’s main product is a social network for exchanging short messages. It is headquartered in San Francisco, California. At the end of October, the company had about 7,500 employees.
