Russia reminded Guterres of who dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima

In his speech on the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima by US troops, UN Secretary-General António Guterres failed to mention who bombed the city. A statement to this effect was made by Dmitry Polyansky, Russia’s first deputy ambassador to the UN.

“Dear Secretary General, the world should also never forget that this crime was committed by the United States, being the only country that used the atomic bomb against civilians,” Polyansky wrote on Twitter.

He also noted that there was no real military necessity in bombing the city.

Polanski believed that Guterres should have mentioned in his speech who bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The UN Secretary General said in his speech that nuclear weapons were pointless and that humanity was simply playing with a “loaded gun”.

He stressed that the reduction of nuclear arsenals had given hope to all the people of the planet.

Guterres is convinced that now the arms race is only gaining momentum. In all, there are some 13,000 nuclear warheads in the world.
