Maleficent star Elle Fanning has lost her role because of her social media followers.

Elle Fanning has revealed how she lost her job because of her social media followers, Deadline reports, citing the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

“I didn’t get a part in a big project because I didn’t have enough followers for the taste of the studio. There may have been another reason, but that’s the feedback I got,” the artiste recalled.

Fanning did not name the franchise where she was not taken. More than six million users now follow her microblog posts.

Elle is now 25 and has been in films since she was three. At first, she played younger versions of characters portrayed by her older sister Dakota. Soon her solo career became detached from her relative’s projects.

In Maleficent with Angelina Jolie, Elle played Princess Aurora. Took the lead role in Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon. She appeared in Sofia Coppola’s Fatal Temptation with Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell. She can also be seen in Woody Allen’s “A Rainy Day in New York”. Elle was the hapless girlfriend of Timothy Chalamet’s character. She also became Catherine II in the pseudo-historical series The Great.

It was previously reported that a Beatlejuice sequel starring Michael Keaton and Jenna Ortega will be released in September 2024.
