Biden not surprised that Trump quoted Putin’s ‘old mate’ Putin

US President Joe Biden was not surprised that his predecessor Donald Trump quoted his “old mate” Vladimir Putin, the White House pool reports.

Earlier, Trump quoted Putin at a rally of supporters in the state of New Hampshire to prove that democracy in the US is in danger.

“Trump over the weekend endorsed his old mate Putin. Trump even quoted him this weekend. It’s not surprising,” said Biden, who was quoted by pool reporters.

At the same time, the White House head expressed the opinion that, after all, Moscow and Mar-a-Lago (Trump’s estate) have a lot in common.

Trump had earlier quoted Putin as follows: “Politically motivated persecution of opponents is very good for Russia because it shows the rottenness of the American system, which cannot pretend to be a teacher of democracy. We talk about democracy, but the whole world is looking at politically motivated persecution of an opponent who is kicking his arse.”

Putin’s original quote, which he delivered at a plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum, was as follows:

“For us, what is happening, in today’s conditions, in my opinion, is a good thing, because it shows the rottenness of the American political system, which cannot claim to teach others about democracy. Everything that is happening with Trump is a politically motivated persecution of his political rival.”
