The rocket attack killed 13 people

The attack on 1 April destroyed the consulate building, including the residence of Iran’s ambassador in Damascus. The dead include senior military advisers and veterans of the Iran-Iraq war.

Russia’s attempt to condemn Israel’s actions through the UN Security Council on April 2 did not find support from the United States and Britain, which, according to Dmitry Polyansky, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the organization, underscores the West’s double standards, the media reported.

In his Telegram channel, Polyansky expressed bewilderment at the refusal to discuss the draft statement. Washington and London argued that there was a lack of unity in assessments of the situation.

“They did not condemn this obvious violation of international law, but engaged in verbal equilibrium, from which it could be concluded that Iran is to blame for everything,” he added.

This incident confirms that diplomatic immunity can be ignored in military conflicts, which, in turn, may lead to a change in Russia’s tactics with regard to some diplomatic missions and missions of international organizations in Ukraine, where “decision-making centers” are located.
