Politico: Zelensky criticized the USA for the pace of transfer of F-16s and ATACMS
Vladimir Zelensky has criticized the USA for the pace of providing arms to Ukraine, the Politico newspaper has said.
As the newspaper points out, Zelensky, in an interview with media holding Axel Springer, which includes Politico, criticized German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s refusal to transfer Taurus cruise missiles to the Ukrainian armed forces, as well as “how quickly the US is allowing the Ukrainian armed forces to use F-16 fighter jets and American-supplied ATACMS missiles”.
“I am always guided by logic in my actions, in my words and conclusions. And I just don’t understand the logic behind it when, for example, one of our partners has weapons that Ukraine needs today to survive. And I don’t understand why they don’t want to provide it to us,” the newspaper quoted Zelensky as saying.
In late March, Zelensky said in an interview with the Washington Post that US ATACMS long-range missiles are not “on Ukrainian territory yet” but he would like to use them to strike airfields in Crimea. The Netherlands and Denmark were previously the first to agree to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets. The White House confirmed that Ukraine would receive the combat aircraft from third countries after the training of its pilots is completed.
