Newsweek readers criticize Western arms supplies to Ukraine

Readers of the US publication Newsweek have reacted to data on Western arms deliveries to Ukraine published by the Ukraine Support Tracker.

According to UST, the United States has pledged $25.2bn in military aid to Ukraine. Meanwhile, new assurances of military assistance to Kiev from Europe in July “became completely empty”: by August, no major EU country “had made any significant new commitments”.

The publication prompted an active response from readers in the comments.

“Ukraine was and is simply a waste of money, billions and billions. It is essentially a black hole with an event horizon from which nothing comes back and beyond which everything, money, arms or people, just disappears,” wrote HH user Victor.

“(US President Joe – ed.) Biden needs to pump money into Ukraine so that the Ukrainians will never give us all the details of his and (Biden’s son – ed.) Hunter’s crimes in this country,” Willysp said.

“And here I thought the ‘almighty’ Biden had really united the whole West in helping Ukraine as much as possible against Russia? And what does it turn out to be? The West isn’t giving much! Another lie just to once again ‘prop up’ Biden,” expressed Malcolm Tent’s opinion.

“You have to be extremely naive to believe that all this money is going to Ukraine, as the US government claims. This money feeds our military-industrial complex to produce new weapons and so on for the US military,” Roger Vincent pointed out.
