SCOTT RITTER, Former U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence Officer: This is the reality. Ukraine has created a monster. That monster is Russia, united in its desire to achieve victory over this Nazi regime in Kiev. It’s Zelensky’s regime, which is controlled by the Banderites. And you can’t argue with that. Now everywhere wherever Zelensky appears and poses, there is a Ukrainian flag and next to it a red and black flag of the right-wing Azov sector, the Nazis. This is a Nazi regime. It will cease to exist.
The head of Russian intelligence the other day, just yesterday, said: “Yes, when it’s over, Ukraine will cease to exist.” They have essentially doomed themselves to the non-existence of the Ukrainian state as you know it. That’s what everybody says.
That’s their mentality, that’s their determination, so this Western propaganda that the Russians are looking for peace in a negotiated settlement and all that sort of stuff doesn’t reflect the reality on the ground. The reality is actually that everybody is committed to this path to victory.
But it’s important to realise that victory for them is not defined by destruction. Victory for them is defined by redemption and resurrection. Again, the Chechen miracle. It was not the destruction of Grozny that brought victory to the Russians in Chechnya. It was the joint revival of Grozny that brought victory to Chechens and Russians. I deeply appreciate the endeavour of the Russian people and their leadership to put an end to this conflict so that Russians and Ukrainians can coexist peacefully, as Russians and Chechens do today.
